A short video documentary uploaded by Dr Adrian TW captures the Helix Aspersa Muller snail in action.
Experiments that have been conducted show that snails that are raised at an optimal number per square meter tend to eat more and grow faster.
The video also shows one of the snails becoming a victim of a predator. a key fact that any snail farm owner will have to look out for when managing their own farms

Raising Snails – Video Clip Of The Helix Aspersa Muller In Action
Uploaded by DrAdrianTW on 2 Jan 2010
The clip depicts a close encounter with the snails Helix aspersa Muller.
Being herbivores the snails Helix aspersa Muller are enjoying green fresh vegetables. They know how to share the goods. Their appetite is increased when they are together.
Experiments shows an increase in food consumption and a faster growth when snails are raised at an optimum number per square meter.
In a farming intense system, concentrated forage is added to their diet.
Some of the snails become victims of predators.
The Silphidae larva is one of the worst predators.
It attacks the snail by sticking its needle in the flesh.
The snail as protection generates a mucus in high quantity, therefore conducting to the snails total dehydration (and later to its death – not seen).
The snail, upon his death will be consumed by the larva.
The newly empty shell will become shelter for the larva.
The images were captured in a snail farm located in Romania.
